East Garland- Kim W. Larson, 54 beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 after an extended illness. He was born May 10, 1954 in Logan, Utah to Louis and Merle Larson. He married Shelley Nelson on January 21, 1983. They resided in East Garland where together, they raised a family of three sons and two daughters. They were sealed in the Logan Temple January 21, 1989.


He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, in which he served in many capacities. He was currently a High Priest in the Hampton Ford Ward. He worked for the Canal Company and then for Circle C. Construction.


Kim was a hard worker who lived the value of putting in an honest days work. The best part of the day for Kim, began after a full day’s work at Circle C. Then he began his second job doing what he loved; working on the family farm with the sheep and cows. As hard as he worked Kim was never too busy to spend time with his family. He rarely missed a wrestling meet, baseball game, rodeo, or soccer game. The highlight of the year was the annual elk hunt in the Uintahs where many memories were made and stories were told around a campfire shared with family and good friends.


Kim is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Shelley, his children, Tyler(Adalyn) Green, Marci (Jason) Potter, Jake (Susan) Larson, Jamie (Lynn) Staheli, and Elder Wes Larson. Also eight grandchildren, his sister, Ann, and brothers Reed (Illa Mae), Dale (Karen), Mark (Milly) and Lee (Penny). He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wesley and sister-in-law Jeanette.


A funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Fielding Stake Center, 4375 West 15600 North in Fielding. Family and friends may call Monday, March 2, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Fielding Stake Center, and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. at the Fielding Stake Center. Interment at the East Garland Cemetery.

Tremonton, UT- Curtis Kaneko, beloved husband, father, and friend, passed away Tuesday October 7, 2008 at the Bear River Valley Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born August 4, 1954 in Brigham City, Utah to Floyd Hideo and Leona Tanaka Kaneko. He was raised in Tremonton and graduated from Bear River High School. He married Robbin Montgomery December 15, 1972. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS temple on June 7, 1974.
Curtis was a crane operator at Nucor Steele for the last 27 years where he was noted for his work ethic and his commitment to excellence. He was an active member of the Riverview LDS Ward, served in the High Priest Group -Leadership and enjoyed his calling as a home teacher because he valued caring for others.
Among Curtis' fondest memories was visiting with people and serving others. He loved his family and always supported them. The greatest gift he gave his family was his time and his love. Nothing was more important than his family, he was always there to watch a ball game, fix a flat tire, or just come because he was called.
He is survived by his wife; his children: Cade (Mandie), Calie, Charity, Sage and Pepper; six grandchildren; his mother; one brother, Stan (Julie) Kaneko and three sisters, Nancy (Mark) Treasure, Barbara (Randy) Williams, and Michelle (Jeff) Lathrom.
He is preceded in death by one daughter, Chelsey and his father.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center, 660 North 300 East, Tremonton with Bishop Michael Yates officiating. Family and friends may call Friday, October 10, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Riverview Ward Church, 10750 North Highway 38, Deweyville and Saturday from 9:15-10:40 a.m. at the Tremonton Stake Center.

Tremonton, UT – Randell Lamont Gardner, 53, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2008. Randy was born September 18, 1954 in Brigham City, Utah, the son of Lamont Dewey and Mildred Claudia Florez Gardner. Randy grew up in Deweyville and Tremonton areas.


Randy married Darleen Burke June 10, 2000 in Tremonton, where they have lived since 2002. Randy and Darleen are each other's best friend and loved each other unconditionally. Where you saw one, the other was usually not far off.

Randy served his country in the Army from 1972-1974 and was honorably discharged. He was an expert marksman. Randy dearly loved his country and was devastated by 9-11.

Randy is survived by his loving wife, Darleen, two sons and one daughter: Randell Martin Gardner, Douglas, AZ, Malissa (Jason) Espinosa, Tremonton and Jonathan (Lacy) Gardner, Brigham City; two brothers, Silvian (Judy) Gardner, Salt Lake City and Ronnie (HelenMae) Gardner, Ogden, two grandsons and eight granddaughters as well as seven wonderful kids that adopted Randy as theirs and a sister, Cynthia (Sid) Miller, Tremonton. He is also survived by a large extended family as well as many, many friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Lamont, his mother, Mildred, and sister, Tonya Kelley.

Randy touched many lives and hearts. He and his wife chaired A. A. meetings in their home for the last five years. Randy celebrated his 10th year sober on January 15, 2008 and was clean of drugs for 8 ¾ years at the time of his death. Randy will be deeply missed by so many people but none more than his best friend, companion and soul-mate, his wife, Darleen.

My love, you are now with your mom, dad, my mom and dad, and son preparing for my arrival. But most of all you are with the one you love so much, Jesus. You are my heart, me breath, my life, I already miss you deeply and will always cherish our love, our life, our dreams.

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 (noon) at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. A memorial service will be held Wednesday February 6, 2008 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests donations be made to Members First Credit Union in his wife, Darleen Gardner's name.

Garland, Utah – Billy David Nelson, 53, passed away at the Bear River Valley Hospital of a heart attack Monday, April 9, 2007.
He was born January 22, 1954 in Libby, Montana to Billy and Alice Geneva Remington Nelson. He moved to Tremonton at six years of age living most of his life in Tremonton and Garland. He is a graduate of Bear River High School and Salt Lake City Community College receiving a degree in Auto Mechanics. He was the owner/operator of American Security and Telephone.
He enjoyed skiing, traveling, science fiction movies and video games. He loved to study the law and U. S. Constitution. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Garland 4th Ward.
Surviving are his sisters: Jean (Donald) Curtis, West Bountiful, UT and Maurine (R. Stephen) Jensen, Garland, UT; brothers: Gordon Nelson, Alamogordo, NM and Phillip Bowman, Superior, MT; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 13, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, UT. Friends and family may call from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment at Garland Cemetery.

Brent Lyle Larson, 51, life-long resident of Garland, Utah, passed away on March 4, 2006, in the Ogden McKay Dee Hospital following a heart attack. He is the son of Arnold Wilford and Lottie May Spencer Larson. He married LeVae Nelson of Bountiful, Utah, on December 10, 1977, in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple.
Brent was born September 18, 1954, in Brigham City, Utah. He graduated from Bear River High School and Utah State University with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a Masters in Elementary Education with an administrative endorsement. Brent taught at Fielding Elementary School and served as principal in the Howell, Corrine, Fielding, Garland, and McKinley Elementary Schools. He also ran the family farm in Garland.
Brent was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a full-time mission in the Copenhagen Denmark Mission.He served in many capacities in the Garland 1st and 4th Wards and the Garland Utah Stake, including Elders Quorum President, Bishop, High Counselor, and member of the Stake Presidency. He also served as a district committee member in the Golden Spike Council of the Boy Scouts of America.He loved working with people, especially the students and staff in his elementary schools. Most of all he loved his family.
Brent is survived by his wife, LeVae, his children Kirsten (Tom) Greenwood (Bountiful, UT), Rachelle (Greg) Hymas (Boise, ID), Lindsey, Kevin Brent, Carey Arnold, and Curtis Guy. He is also survived by his mother and step-father, May and George Leslie Darrington; brothers, Arnold James and Jerry W; sister, Linda; and grandchildren, Adam and Logan Hymas. He was preceded in death by his father, Arnold, and brother Bruce DeLyn Larson.
Viewing will be in the Garland Stake Tabernacle, 140 West Factory, Garland, Wednesday, March 8, 2006, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 9, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle, with a viewing prior to the services in the Relief Society Room from 11:30-1:00. Interment at Garland Cemetery.

DeAnn Thompson McMahan, age 50, of Woodbridge, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, following a courageous battle with liver disease. DeAnn was born September 9, 1954 in Tremonton Utah, the 4th child of Edward Grant Thompson and Elaine Stenquist Thompson.
After graduating from Bear River High School in 1972, DeAnn completed her bachelor's degree in Forestry at Utah State University. She married John David McMahan. USCG Ret. on October 11, 1980 in Jackson, Wyoming. Their marriage was later solemenized in the Oakland LDS Temple.
DeAnn was a devoted wife, and mother, who was known by all for her positive and cheerful outlook on life. DeAnn was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) and held numerous church positions and served with honor. DeAnn volunteered to play the piano at McAuliffe Elementary and Saunders Middle Schools and did so for many years. She was a member of the Mormon Choir of Washington and enjoyed singing for others.
Her beautiful smile greeted all she met and continued to warm loved ones even as her illness progressed. In addition to being always optimistic, DeAnn was blessed to know the value of hard work and thanksgiving. Through her example DeAnn leaves a divine legacy.
DeAnn was preceded in death by her mother and father. She will be greatly missed by her husband John and sons, Evan and Eric whom she loved dearly; and by her caring brothers and sisters Kae, Paul, Glen, Janeen, and Dale and all of her cherished friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2005, with a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. and a special musical service at 11:30 a.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 5750 Websters Way, Manassas, VA 20112. Interment will be held at a future date at Arlington National Cemetery.
Special thanks to all those who loved and supported DeAnn through her illness and journey here on earth.

Kirk David Rose, age 50, returned to his Heavenly Father on September 13, 2004. Born May 15, 1954 to LaVor D. Rose and Beverly Austin Rose Boss.
Kirk was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had many happy times growing up in Tremonton. He graduated from Bear River High School where he was the drummer for the Lancers Jazz Band.
Kirk was a very special man who had touched a lot of people's hearts. He was a great husband, an irreplaceable dad, brother, step-dad and grandfather. Kirk had a heart of gold and would openly give it to anyone who would take it. He loved a lot of things and music was one of them. He took a lot of pride playing in the band, Absalon and was "master of the drums", as they called him. He enjoyed teaching and passing on that talent to others. He also loved being himself. Kirk was a leader not a follower. He lived life the way he wanted and loved it. His son, Cody, was another joy he loved. Long conversations with his son and seeing his grandson lit up his life. Kirk was a very generous man who was always there for anyone who needed him, including his stepchildren. He would always lead them in the right direction. His favorite granddaughter, Faith, enjoyed "Papa time" reading books and picking grapes together. He loved to buy pops and candy bars for his buddy Drew. He had lots of love for all his children. He will be dearly missed by all of them.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Cody Ryan Rose (Abbie); grandson, Ryan James Robert Rose, Spokane, WA; stepchildren, April, Jason, Drew, Niki, Chrystle; grandchildren Dayvon and Faith; sister, Julie (Jim) Larson; brothers, Roger Rose, Mont (Cheryl) Rose, Greg "Moe" (Julie) Rose and stepfather, Ken Boss.
He faced his final challenges in life the same way he faced all of life's challenges, with courage, strength, optimism and one last smile.

Tremonton - The greatest man, husband, Dad, and grandpa, Blake Alan Williams, 49, of Tremonton, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at the McKay-Dee Medical Center in Ogden. He was born on April 5, 1954, the son of Evan DeVerl and Ruth Hansen Williams in Soda Springs, ID. He married Laurell Berry on February 15, 1974 in Bennettsville, S.C. and their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on October 9, 1992.

Blake moved to Garland at age three, and attended Bear River High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army right after graduation and was accepted into 82nd Airborne as an engineer. After his honorable discharge they moved back to Garland. Blake was a man of many talents including - Carpenter at Thiokol, Owner/Operator of Western Trails Cafe, Plumber (soon to receive his journeyman plumbing licence), Horseman, an avid outdoorsman who taught his children and grandchildren to appreciate his true love of the outdoors. In fact there where very few things he didn't know, but most of all he was best at being Dad, Grandpa, and Friend.

He is survived by his wife Laurell, and his children - Travis of Tremonton, Samuel of Deweyville, and Teena attending College in Dubuque, Iowa; his precious mother Ruth Williams of Garland; brothers - Jerrald (Julie) of Garland, Gene (KC) of Tremonton, James (Tami) of Quartzite, AZ, Bret (Teresa) of Bothwell; one sister - Lana (Ward) Whitaker of Deweyville; five grandchildren - Shyann, Kelton, Kylee-Jo, Karlee, and Makaylee.

He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2003 at the Tremonton LDS 1st Ward, 166 North Tremont Street, with Bishop David Lasley Officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday, January 27 from 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at Rogers & Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton.

Interment will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.

Tremonton: Brent Folsom Cowley, Life Flight Pilot, died in a Life Flight accident on Saturday, June 7, 2003 after rescuing a hiker on Mt. Olympus. He died doing what he loved – helping others.
Brent was born June 2, 1954 in Salt Lake City. Born to Francis Ellison Cowley and Marie Folsom Cowley. Graduated from Bear River High. Married and sealed to Cheryl Anne Erickson on July 18, 1973 in the Logan Temple.
He enlisted in the Army in 1975. In 1976 he was accepted to flight school and was an Honor Graduate. He retired as CW4 Senior Instructor Pilot after 20 years of military service that included two tours in Germany, tours in the Desert Shield/Storm and Somalia conflict. He was honored with many commendation medals including the German Cross, The Air Medal, The Army Commendation Medal, The Meritorious Service Medal and achieved many Safety Awards as an Instructor Pilot.He flew for Care Flight out of Reno, NV for two years and then moved to Utah and flew for Life Flight for seven years.
Brent was a dedicated member of the LDS Church. He offered service wherever stationed including Bishop and High Counsel member. His wife, children and grandchildren were the love of his life and is the one thing he enjoyed more than flying.He is survived by his wife Cheryl, and seven children, Jocelyn (Paul Zissi) Salt Lake; Jayme (Kirk Richins) Woods Cross; Jacob (Stephanie) NSL; Jasmine, Joshua, Jessy and Jordan all of Tremonton. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, his mother Marie, brother Craig Cowley (Life Flight Pilot) and three sisters, Carolyn Perry, Pauline Campbell and Janet Rose.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 12, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton LDS South Stake Center, 1150 South Tremont Street. Family and friends may call Wednesday, June 11th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday, June 12th from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Graveside services including military honor and Life Flight Fly By will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
